Volunteering is the backbone of our organization.
We are managed in India by 8 trustees drawn from different professional backgrounds, who have a wealth of experience in managing large matrixed organizations, and an extensive network of contacts. Help The Blind Foundation in India is ably supported in our activities by HTBF (Hong Kong) and HTBF-America who raise funds through their extended network and promotional activities in their respective geographies. Our efforts are focused in reaching this socio-economic group, many of whom migrate to cities, where colleges provide better facilities for the visually impaired. Given poor educational and health facilities, it is the poorest of the visually impaired who suffer the greatest through lack of support for higher education. Towards this mission, we also provide skills training through our EMET program, coaching for examinations and personal development initiatives. Our mission is to provide access to university education thereby enabling visually-impaired students in India to get jobs in today’s modern economy.
